Having worked with the Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East’s Media Monitoring Team, in addition to my experience speaking in mainstream and alternative media, both my professional and lived experiences, as a Palestinian, have provided me with the tools needed to carefully navigate the media about Palestine.
This workshop will explore the following:
Why media matters? Exploring Zionist Hasbara and efforts to whitewash Israeli warcrimes in Western media.
Analyzing anti-Palestinian racism (APR) in Western media.
Harmful implications of APR in media and how to counter it.
How to obtain legitimate news about Palestine and how to amplify it.
Which sources and who to support?
We will include engaging discussions where attendees will look at diverse news stories to compare and contrast variations in language when it comes to reporting on Palestine. This workshop will provide attendees with essential knowledge and skills to critically read, analyze, and support important journalistic work on Palestine, crucial to counter Zionist propaganda.
