Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney visits French President Emmanuel Macron, March 2025.

On Monday May 19, 2025, the leaders of Canada, France, and the United Kingdom (UK), released a statement "strongly opposing the expansion of Israel's military operations in Gaza and any attempts to expand settlements in the West Bank." At first glance, this statement is noteworthy for its strong wording condemning the Zionist Entity, a strong ally of these three states. For instance, in the tweet by the Canadian Prime Minister’s Office, there is no mention of Israeli hostages or the cessation of Palestinian attacks to start their statement on Zionist atrocities, as is typically the case by Western leaders. Instead, only Israel is mentioned and strongly condemned.
